An introduction from Sir Nicholas Winterton MP
President of the Rossendale Trust
I have been privileged to have been involved as President of the Rossendale Trust in one way or another since its inception, when I was first contacted by the founding Chapman and Hyde families.
I am pleased to say that over the years the Rossendale Trust has grown from strength to strength providing a 'happy family' style of atmosphere and environment for all of its guests.
Whenever I visit, it is truly wonderful to see the residents of Rossendale enjoying themselves so much - especially when they are either playing or listening to music! The energy which some of them have put into making the Oakwood Project such a success for example has to be seen to be believed!
This type of friendly and secure environment is the 'secret' ingredient which makes the Rossendale Trust so successful in its aims of providing a 'home from home' - particularly poignant when guests are unable to continue to live at their parental home or elsewhere for whatever reason.
Throughout the various Rossendale Trust homes there is a very able and very professional team of carers who provide constant 24-hour year-round stimulating support and response for our guest residents.
As you might well imagine this requires tremendous effort by these carers as the demands of the guests increase as they get older - one must remember that some of the residents have been at Rossendale for well over 30 years, in fact almost as long as I have served as the Member of Parliament for the Macclesfield constituency!
I trust that you will learn far more about the Rossendale Trust and its endeavours in providing specialist caring for those who need it. The Trust's re-designed website aims to achieve this and I hope that the knowledge gained will encourage you to participate in supporting the resident's future development in any way you are able so to do.
