Day Care services initially provided by Social Services for residents of Rossendale for many years were withdrawn and the Trust now provides its own Day Care Centre support.
The Trust believes that it is essential for the residents to take part in new activities and to meet different people as part of their environment.
The Day Centre provides these facilities which for the past three years have been situated at the Ex-Servicemen's Club in Sutton. This building has a spacious main hall providing the venue in which most of the activities take place.
Currently some thirty-eight residents attend over the week, and five more come from the local community. Some people bring sandwiches and make a day of it while others come just for a morning or afternoon session.
The Day Centre Manager is Suzanne who is strongly supported by four very creative helpers who offer cookery, arts and crafts (painting and pottery), music, games, quizzes, and a little computer work to the participants. There is also an exercise session once a week which is led by two physiotherapists, plus weekly music session's organised by a visiting music leader.
The Day Centre is open every weekday all year round, except for Bank Holidays and a week at Christmas/New Year.
