PR Committee
It is well over 7 years since The Rossendale Trust PR & Fundraising Committee started, and it currently consists of 4 residents' parents - Ros Bevan, Gill Cuthbert, Gill Cockram Anne Mathews and Sue Ferguson - Janet Parkinson (Secretary) and Moira Beswick (Chairman). This is all a voluntary effort and some of the Committee are still in full time employment.
The majority of Fundraising events that are arranged are Street Collections; 'Flag Days' outside Tesco/Sainsbury's and the like. We also have a bucket collection at Macclesfield Town Football ground in October.
The Committee constantly receives additional support for all the events listed above, especially the Street Collections and Flag Days, and the Committee takes this opportunity to thank everyone for that help. A number of larger events have also been arranged in the past but usually with the help of some outside organisation and with large amounts of financial support - which have been very successful - and has brought in £'000s for The Rossendale Trust. The Church House Pub in Sutton support us by organising a monthly Country Fair on the 3rd Sunday in every month.
Moira Beswick regularly gives talks and presentations to various groups such as the local Rotary Clubs (ie Macclesfield, Macclesfield Castle and Buxton); Inner Wheel Clubs (ie Macclesfield and Macclesfield Castle as shown in the photograph above); Ladies Luncheon Clubs, WI Clubs etc. These continue to be booked and should Moira not be available Phil Gaskell (Trustee) or Mike Frost (Chief Executive) often step in to replace her. This PR activity is very important as it spreads the word about The Rossendale Trust and what we do.
The Committee has a list of people who are willing to help with Street Collections/Flag Days etc but we really need some more helpers - please contact Moira Beswick (01625 610269) if you are willing to help and are not already on the list. Some people gave their names to Moira at the recent AGM and once again we thank them for their interest/support.
The next PR Committee meeting will held on Monday 16th January 2012 at 6.30 pm at the Hall.
