Rossendale Summer Fete 2009 - In view of all the building works taking place at Rossendale Hall, we had to do things differently this year. None the less I’m delighted to report that a great time was had by all.
Blessed by sunshine throughout, we were delighted by the response and I’d like to pass on the Trust’s gratitude to all those who were able to attend and to the many staff, volunteers and local businesses involved with its preparation, support and smooth running. It was also particularly pleasing to see many new faces from the local community taking such a keen interest in the excellent work which takes place at Rossendale, day in day out, and our future plans.
A new feature was the inclusion of a classic car and bike show. Made possible by many local enthusiasts and generous gesture
of Tim Lomas, who owns the adjacent land, this proved a great success. So much so that our Richard Jones is already planning for next year!
As music is such an important part of life at Rossendale, several members of staff got their own band together for the fete and played many of their own songs. Very well received, nobody would have guessed it was the first time they had played live to an audience before – Rossendale certainly has talent!
As always, Sir Nicholas Winterton gave his full support throughout and drew the winning names of the many prizes which had been generously donated.
The total money collected by the Trust on the day was in the region of £2,000 and this will be used to fund additional activities for our residents – a very sincere thank you on their behalf.
Although the building works will be even more advanced, I can confirm that next year’s fete will take place on Sunday 1st August.
